I need to re-upload this video. Thanks for your comments. Glad you like it.

Johnny Paycheck

Lyrics:

Cowboys ain’t easy to love and they’re harder to hold
And they’d rather give you a song than diamonds or gold
Lone Star belt buckles and old faded Levis
And each night begins a new day
And if you don’t understand him and he don’t die young
He’ll probably just ride away

Mama don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don’t let them pick guitars and drive in old trucks
Make ‘em be doctors and lawyers and such
Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They’ll never stay home and they’re always alone
Even with someone they love

A cowboy loves smokey old pool rooms and clear mountain mornings
Little warm puppies and children and girls of the night
Them that don’t know him won’t like him and them that do
Sometimes won’t know how to take him
He’s not wrong he’s just different and his pride won’t let him
Do things to make you think he’s right

Mama don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don’t let them pick guitars and drive in old trucks
Make ‘em be doctors and lawyers and such
Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They’ll never stay home and they’re always alone
Even with someone they love

Secret Cowboys Round-Up

Did yall know that before The Round-Up Saloon opened on July 11, 1980, the space was a gay disco called the Magnolia T.P. co-owner Gary Miller says.

What does the T. P. stand for?

Thunderpussy, Miller laughs.

Part of that name is still tied to the Round-Up (just not the T.P. part). The charter company that owns the Round-Up is called Magnolia Disco Corporation.

Steeped in boot-scootin Lone Star tradition, the Round-Up usually overwhelms out-of-towners. Not beneath the dance floor, visiting New Yorkers witness same-sex couples free spin, promenade, two-step and line dance, and they wish Manhattan had a twangy dance hall just like it. But the genuine gay country-western experience isnt easily exported.

This weekend, the Round-Up winds up its 28th anniversary celebration with a Friday night Karaoke bash and a retro-disco beer bust on Sunday.

The 10,000 square foot space used to be the Old Warsaw Restaurant. Over the years, there have been some changes.

The patio used to be a lot bigger, Miller remembers.

Almost all of the clubs early history was lost in a fire: In 1989, the Round-Up and two adjacent tenants were victims of a six-alarm fire — ignited by an arsonist who tried to cover up a burglary after stealing computers from the Dallas Gay Alliance. A few items survived, including the brass chandeliers in the karaoke parlor.

Maintaining a classic definition of western culture is part of the Round-Ups success.

Western shirts are tucked in. And we dont wear crumpled hats — no Madonna cowboy hats either, co-owner Alan Pierce says.

Miller and Pierce have been partners for 22 years: In 2006, they were married in Montreal. Miller grew up near the mouth of Red River; and Pierce in New Mexico. And like many Round-Up patrons, Miller and Pierce both had rodeo culture in common.

Like the gay rodeo circuit, gay country-western clubs emerged out of necessity — not to rebel against tradition. Old-school C&W culture — and specifically Nashville — are still very much homophobic. K.D. Langs phenomenal success changed perceptions a little. But Miller says the secret to the Round-Ups longevity isnt really about hats, dance steps or cocktails. Its because everyone here is so friendly.

Pants on the Ground Parody – PANTS UP by Mars

Pants on the Ground Parody – Pants Up by Mars

Join the movement. Spread http://MarsRaps.com

Marshall “Mars” Manning is a Hollywood bound rapper and singer who was shown with his “Golden Ticket” during the January 13th, 2010 “Atlanta Auditions” episode of American Idol.

Mars was there when General Larry Platt performed his notorious “Pants on the Ground” sensational hit and was inspired by the General to take heed to his wise words… Thus quickly writing and recording, “Pants Up”.

Mars was once a victim of SPS, “Sagging Pants Syndrome”, but since the General’s impartation, Mars has decided to “hike up” his attitude on the subject.

Pants Up
by Mars

May I have your attention please – I repeat – May I
Man Hang on man I forgot my belt. My pants just fell down!

Yall act like you’ve never seen a belt or suspenders before
just a plain white T and capris…
(Naw Mars those are shorts!)
I pity those who wanna rebuttal this Mars banter Spangled…
Lookin like a FOOL with your pants around your ankles
It’s a pity though. Diddy knows class is hard to find!
Jump on that last train to Paris ’cause your style is asinine.
I’ve been assigned to keep rhyming and further define this renown sound.
Lookin like a FOOL with your pants on the ground!

I get ‘em up
I keep my pants up off the ground
I get ‘em up now

I get ‘em up
High off the ground
I get ‘em up now – yeah

An epidemic a movement, see everybody’s buying belts
I copped 10 for my homes and 20 for myself
Rhinestone studded – Gucci red and green
I got diamonds on the buckle!
Diamonds Diamonds on my buckle!
My suspenders are poppin
My suspenders are cool
All the girls keep jockin
they chase me after school
Andre 3’s style’s nothing to consider
When you browse the selection I copped at urban outfitters
I got bright cherry red and mustard yellow dijon
Hand braided soft suede cohann.com
(Give me the green one!)
Lets go on a shopping spree
Everybody knows the best belts in life ain’t cheap!
The belt force one combo was nothing to share
So I had to go back to belt locker and cop another pair – see
This one was a gift – I call it the Taylor Swift
But everybody knows the one that steals the show’s
The Mr West

I get ‘em up
I keep my pants up off the ground
I get ‘em up now

I get ‘em up
High off the ground
I get ‘em up now – yeah

Sometimes I get on the mic and just dream at the sky
With my eyes behind shades and my pants hiked high
Barely there socks – Pant cuffs at the knees
I like to keep ‘em that way so that my ankles can breathe
This song is dedicated, premeditated, and laced with style
and made for anyone out there who sags their pangs in denial
See I’m not asking for attention – just to be thrown in the mix
and played at the top of every hour until this problem is fixed
See, this is a movement, a culture, a way to live loud
Anything is possible with pants hiked high and proud
Birds chirping dogs barking everything is grand
You KNOW that you’re in style with that high water tan
Shirt tucked in? Boy, now you’re talking edgy.
Everybody’s down with the dude that sports the wedgie
If you’re listening to this and joining in is a must
I’d like to invite you now to go ahead and sing along with us

We get ‘em up
We keep my pants up off the ground
We get ‘em up now

We get ‘em up
High off the ground
We get ‘em up now – yeah

Rising, rising, belt pulled tightly
All circulation must cease
General Larry’s words inspired me
To be all that I can be

We get ‘em up
We keep my pants up off the ground
We get ‘em up now

We get ‘em up
High off the ground
We get ‘em up now – yeah

Oh wow! I’ll take the purple, the green one, the blue one
Is this real camel hair? This one’s nice. It’ll match the shade of gold in my teeth.

Up off the ground.
Up off the ground.
Up off the ground.

Waylon Jennings& Willie Nelson – Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys

November 21, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: Country Belt Buckles

Waylon Arnold Jennings (June 15, 1937 February 13, 2002) was an influential American country music singer and musician.
A series of duet albums with Willie Nelson in the late 1970s culminated in the 1978 crossover hit, “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys”.

Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 30, 1933) is an American country singer-songwriter, author, poet and actor.
Along with Nelson, Waylon Jennings was also achieving success in country music in the early 1970s, and the pair were soon combined into a genre called outlaw country (”outlaw” because it did not conform to Nashville standards).

“Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys” is a country music song written by Ed Bruce and Patsy Bruce. It was made famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, whose version was first released on their 1978 album Waylon & Willie. The song’s lyrics advise mothers to raise their children as doctors or lawyers rather than cowboys, who seem to be “always alone.”

The Waylon & Willie version peaked at No. 1 in March 1978, spending four weeks atop the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart.

Lyrics:
Cowboys ain’t easy to love and they’re harder to hold
And they’d rather give you a song then diamonds or gold
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded Levi’s each night begins a new day
And if you don’t understand him and he don’t die young
He’ll probly just ride away

Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don’t let ‘em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make ‘em be doctors and lawyers and such

Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They’ll never stay home and they’re always alone
Even with someone they love

Cowboys like smokey old pool rooms and clear mountian mornings
Little warm puppies and children and girls of the night
And them that don’t know him won’t like him
And them that do sometimes won’t know how to take him
He ain’t wrong he’s just different
but his pride won’t let him do things to make you think he’s right

Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don’t let ‘em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make ‘em be doctors and lawyers and such

Mama don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They’ll never stay home and they’re always alone
Even with someone they love
