For rainbows and browns, I like a big nightcrawler or thread a gold aberdeen hook with corn and drop it on bottom with a couple small split shots.
For lakers, troll with spoons as close as you can to bottom and vary the speed.

Depending on the forage in the river you’re fishing, I like to have multiple colors of the X-Raps in my tacklebox. I’d recommend the 4″ X-Rap in the silver blue, clown, glass ghost, and the perch colors.

The slashing zig-zagging action of the X-Rap is dynamite for lakers in the spring! We were trolling in 15 feet of water and the schools were stacked underneath the baitfish.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, it was Sawmill Bay. We were going through a narrow channel right into the bay where we saw pods of baitfish and the lakers were right underneath them in about 20 feet of water.
