Should Islam be Brought to Schools?

A growing number of groups are calling for public schools to make accommodations for their Islamic communities. Some are requesting a separate area for Muslim children to go when they’re fasting in order to avoid sitting in lunch rooms. Others are requesting footbaths in bathrooms, and separate rooms where Islamic students can go to perform daily prayers. Alyona asks, are Americas really ready for Islam to go mainstream in public schools? Alyona discusses this with Bahir Mustafa from the New York Civic Participation Project. Mustafa discusses how Muslims are not recognized in these schools.

Clinton Democrats & Islam Indoctrination In Public Schools

Islam, a 7th century practice of murder, slavery, and perversion in the Middle East, has declared war against the United States Of America and other free democracies of the world. They have attacked our countries and celebrated their “suicide victories” in their own streets. So how is it that this counterfeit “religion” is being taught in OUR public schools? It turns out that this country’s Liberals and Democrats are the enemies of America, too.

This expose from Fox News (edited for time) details the behind-the-scenes story that the Liberal-biased media refuses to cover (guess why):

“Public schools across America are under siege by radical Islam … and infiltrating public schools all across the nation. … It’s Small Town U.S.A. Vs Islamic Indoctrination.”

Superintendent William Huyet: “But I want to emphasize that we’re not teaching Islam. We’re teaching about Islam. And I think it’s very important that our young people know about other cultures, especially those in which we find, sometimes, ourselves in conflict with.”

“‘History Alive’ has been approved by California State Board Of Education, but the America Textbook Counsel, which reviews history books for elementary and high school, says that organized Islamists have gained control of the textbook’s content and influenced those that determine the social studies curriculum. Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum agrees.”

“Abdul Rahman Alamoudi, who represents the America Muslim Council, worked with President Bill Clinton and the A.C.L.U. to write the ‘Religious Expressions In Public Schools’ guidelines that ushered in books such as ‘History Alive’. Today Alamoudi sits in jail accused by the Treasury Department as one of Al-Qaeda’s top fund-raisers in the U.S. He also donated money to Senator Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign.”

“This multi-front Islamic agenda has now gained a foot-hold in our children’s schools and is aggressively targeting our kids. As a result, the study of Islam is now an active part of many schools’s curriculums. Meanwhile, Christianity is being removed by the very same educators. Learning to become muslim, fasting for ‘Ramadan’, learning the ‘Five Pillars Of Islam’, is replacing nativity scenes, displays of the cross and ‘The Ten Commandments’.”

“Should history be distorted and marginalized in order to please organizations that prefer to gloss over the true meaning of ‘jihad’, ‘sharia law’, ‘terrorism’, or omit the subject altogether. If so, why not teach that radical Islam in some cases outlaws Christianity, restricts women’s rights, and calls for the destruction of America.”

Five English Hymns

We usually sing our hymns, but they are of course, many of them, the most wonderful poetry. To show that this is so I am posting a reading I made some time ago of five of my favourite hymns. The video was made on my old computer and so is a bit shaky, but the sound is good.

When I was a boy we had hymn-singing every day in school accompanied by prayers. At my grammar school we had two assemblies, one in the morning and one before we scampered off home for the day and each assembly was for prayers and the singing of one or two hymns. In this way some of the very best poetry of our own and previous years became indelibly embedded in our minds – or in mine at least! Plus also of course the Book of Common Prayer and the Revised Version of the Holy Bible. This was to present us with some of the most profound and beautiful language ever written in English on a daily basis and in the most available form, in speech and in singing.

I expect the poor little buggers of today, if ever their minds are directed toward higher things, are done so in an altogether antiquarian manner and without any spiritual guidance on the part of teachers for the most part unbelievers. This is a great loss and an occasion for prolonged public mourning – but I suppose it is too late now to recapture the rapture of my early days.

Lots of people on YouTube rail against religion, and up to a point I am with them. But they forget that the Christian religion is much more than oppression, much more than religious wars and burnings at the stake. It is also a matter of overflowing joy, of the expression of wonder and the love that lives in us all and needs only an occasion to make it flow outward into the world. Our daily assemblies were such an occasion, and our hymns and prayers were full of beautiful language and lovely song, and one can only deeply regret their passing.

School Prayer Amendment

Everyone should understand this, that the benefits derived from the restoration of school prayer can no longer be considered an abstract discussion, or a matter of endless debate. Know this, that every effort to restore prayer to the public schools of America, is an effort to save America from a horrendous catastrophe. Every effort to restore prayer to the public schools of America, is an effort to save America from the greatest pain this nation has ever experienced. Every effort to restore prayer to the public schools of America, is an effort to save tens of thousands of American lives. Every effort to restore prayer to the public schools of America, is an effort to place an effective shield between those who are alive today, and those who bodies are destined to be piled up in the great mounds of the lifeless tomorrow. Every effort to restore prayer to the public schools of America, is an effort to save America from a vast wave of anguish, despair, sorrow, and hopelessness, and the day-to-day terror associated with social and economic chaos.

I have discussed at length at, WWW.SHIELDS-UP.ORG, that the terrorists have been seeking nuclear weapons for more than ten years. Their hatred is so great, that they would literally love to see all of America go up in a nuclear mushroom cloud. There are many informed individuals who believe that Al Qaeda has already acquired nuclear weapons, and that they are holding off in their use until the time is right, where the most damage can be inflicted. With America in the weakest economic condition since the Great Depression, and groaning under mountains of debt as far as the eye can see, now is the time when the use of one or more nuclear weapons detonated in major U.S. Metropolitan areas would likely cause the greatest damage. This is an important point to understand. The terrorists were waiting for this period of weakness, and they are in a frenzy to take advantage of it before we can catch our breath.

For prayer to be restored to the public schools, the Supreme Court ban upon it, must be removed through a constitutional amendment process. This is the crucial work before us, and in this video, I am presenting a constitutional amendment that no heart of good will can turn its back upon. This constitutional amendment will restore the First Amendment to its original intent, as a barrier intended to block any attempt by the Federal Government to use its centralized power to control or manipulate the religious life of the people.

Fox News: Pledging Allegiance To Bullshit

Land of the Free* shirts available at http://www.cafepress.com/C0ct0pus.379783997
note: recently, atheist billboards have been vandalized (one sign that read “one nation, indivisible” had “under god” spray painted under the phrase). these people really fail to realize what “one nation, indivisible (under god or not)” means…they use it as a tool to divide us, which is DEFEATING THE POINT, ASSHATS.

as for this video, repeating mindless bullshit for the sake of making people feel ‘patriotic’ is bullshit…plain and simple. take prayers for example…repeating a prayer amongst a group of people shouldn’t make you feel righteous.

Christopher Hitchens vs. Pat Buchanan Part 6: Prayer and Single-Payer Health Care (1993)

August 23, 1993 http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FChristopher-Hitchens%2Fe%2FB000APSKR0%3Fqid%3D1278211708%26sr%3D1-2-ent&tag=doc06-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325

Marion Gordon “Pat” Robertson (born March 22, 1930) is a prominent political spokesman for the Christian right in American politics and a highly visible spokesman in the media for Fundamentalist religion. He is the founder of numerous organizations and corporations, including the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the Christian Coalition, Flying Hospital, International Family Entertainment Inc., Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation, and Regent University. He is the host of The 700 Club, a Christian TV program airing on channels throughout the United States and on CBN affiliates worldwide.

The son of U.S. Senator A. Willis Robertson, Robertson is a Southern Baptist and was active as an ordained minister with that denomination for many years, but holds to a charismatic theology not traditionally common among Southern Baptists. He unsuccessfully campaigned to become the Republican Party’s nominee in the 1988 presidential election. As a result of his seeking political office, he no longer serves in an official role for any church. His media and financial resources make him a recognized, influential, and controversial public voice for conservative Christianity in the United States.

Jerry Lamon Falwell, Sr. (August 11, 1933 — May 15, 2007) was a Christian evangelical fundamentalist Baptist pastor, televangelist, and a conservative commentator from the U.S. He was the founding pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church, a megachurch in Lynchburg, Virginia. He founded Lynchburg Christian Academy (now Liberty Christian Academy) in 1967, Liberty University in 1971, and cofounded the Moral Majority in 1979.

School prayer in its common usage refers to state-approved prayer by students in state schools. Depending on the country and the type of school, organized prayer may be required, permitted, or proscribed. Countries which prohibit school prayer often differ in their reasons for doing so: the separation of church and state is the United States’ basis for doing so (as proscribed in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution); Freedom of conscience is Canada’s; and, similar to the United States, France’s rationale is the laïcité concept.

Prayer done by private individuals by themselves when on state grounds is generally considered to be a form of free expression, and restrictions against it generally have been removed or struck down in modern democracies. However, totalitarian countries such as North Korea and, in its time, the Soviet Union have taken action against private religious expression in schools.

Shahid revisits his School

He came to promote his latest film, but ended up revisiting quite a few old memories.

When Shahid Kapoor came to Delhi to visit his alma mater and his former residence a few days ago, little did he anticipate such a rush of memories and people. Such is life, Shahid said, Its humbling. Once, I was one of the thousand students doing morning prayers in this school. But Gods been so kind. Now, I need special permission or security to get me here.

At Gyan Bharti Public School in Saket, the actor interacted with students, his teachers and the principal. Shahid, who had moved to Mumbai when he was 10, upon reaching his school, said, Schooling in Delhi was fun. It was tougher in Mumbai, where I was a bit of an outsider. By the time we accompanied him to his former house in Press Enclave, the crowd had grown significantly. As soon as Shasha (as hes called) reached the house he grew up in, neighbours gathered around, each wanting to remind him of the moments theyd shared. One of them told us, He was so naughty. Once, he put firecrackers in the postbox and blew it up!

Shahids neighbours, Rohini and Gaurav, also told us similar tales, Wed play together in the evening and would often end up fighting. Their mother said, Arrey… bade shararti the sab. Theyd pull each others hair too.

We also met Mamu, Shahids Man Friday. Mamu is the one who was with me in Delhi, and is now with me in Mumbai, said Shahid. Mamu has known Shahid since he was a child, and even pointed out the shed in which he used to live outside Shahids B-16 apartment. Maine Shahid ke saath inhi parks mein cricket khela hai, Mamu said, pointing to the lawns outside the house.
