How do you cut and dry bamboo so that it doesn’t crack. What is the best way to cut it and put holes in it.
Want to make wind chimes and don’t want them to crack. Should we treat the bamboo with any wood preservative?
Use masking tape around the area where you are going to make your cuts, or do any drilling, this will help alot to keep the wood from cracking. Also use a blade with more teeth, I use a Freud 80t on my compound mitre.

Not sure about the preservatives, probably so. I would think if you can experiment with different drying techniques;IE out of sun, in and out of moisture etc. you can keep from cracking. You can cut it and drill it with regular woodworking tools.
